Cod is considered the “default setting from which all other fish species vary.” It can be found in both the North Atlantic and North Pacific but the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska are major fishing grounds. Market size is generally 2 to 10 pounds but “jumbos” can weigh up to 25 pounds.
