The living marine resources in the ocean off Alaska are truly of world-class proportions. These resources support commercial fisheries that have harvested millions of tons of finfish and shellfish every year for decades. The principles and methods of fisheries management as set up in the state constitution are known worldwide as having long-term conservation and sustainability as their primary objective.
